Engineering

Turning engineering expertise into community impact from the workshop to the classroom

I am a Subsea Engineer based in Aberdeen, currently working within the energy sector to develop critical subsea infrastructure for carbon capture and storage projects. My journey into engineering began with a deep curiosity about how things work and a determination to solve complex problems that matter. Today, I channel that same curiosity into designing and delivering subsea architecture and seabed-to-surface systems that enable the safe, permanent storage of captured CO₂ supporting the transition to a lower-carbon future. STEM has given me the tools to turn ideas into impact from leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams across international centres, to developing digital monitoring platforms that improve safety and operational visibility in real time. But the most rewarding part of my career has been using my voice to open doors for others. As a STEMAZING STEM Ambassador and Fellow of the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), I regularly connect with schools and young people to share my story and show that engineering is creative, collaborative, and absolutely for everyone. I believe representation matters: when a young girl sees someone who looks like her building offshore platforms or leading technical reviews, she begins to picture herself doing the same. I am also deeply committed to diversity and inclusion in the sector. As Diversity & Inclusion Co-Chair at IfSE, I work to create safer, more inclusive workplaces where people from all backgrounds can thrive. I have delivered STEM outreach and engaged with initiatives like Virtual COP30 to connect climate action with engineering careers, showing students that their STEM skills can directly shape a sustainable future. What drives me is the belief that STEM is not just about technical excellence; it is about people. Whether I am mentoring early-career engineers, speaking at schools, or volunteering as an OHS Consultant and SLB Speak-Up advocate, my goal is the same: to demystify STEM, break down stereotypes, and empower the next generation to enter this field with confidence. I want to share with young people that there is no single path into STEM. Whether you come from Ghana, Aberdeen, or anywhere in between, your perspective is valuable. The challenges we face from climate change to energy security need diverse minds. I would love to show them that they can be the ones to solve them.
