Schools & Educators

STEM Demystified was built with classrooms in mind. Whether you're a primary school teacher, a secondary school science department, or a careers advisor, our role model stories are free to use as an educational resource - and with a free school account, you can go further: connect with real STEM Ambassadors and put your students' questions directly to women working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics around the world.

How to use STEM Demystified in your classroom

  • Use individual role model story pages as reading comprehension material for literacy across the curriculum
  • Use the globe to explore geography, diversity, and global representation in STEM careers
  • Use the “Women who changed history” profiles as starting points for project-based learning
  • Print individual story pages for display boards and classroom environments

Why representation matters in STEM education

Research consistently shows that students are more likely to pursue a subject when they can see people like themselves succeeding in it. STEM Demystified gives every student - regardless of background, gender, or geography - a set of role models they can connect with.

Looking for charities and non-profits that support children in STEM? We've brought together a directory of organisations from around the world working to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics accessible to every child.

Connect with STEM Ambassadors

Create a free school account to access our directory of STEM Ambassadors - real women working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics who have chosen to make themselves available to schools.

Through your school account you can:

  • Browse Ambassadors by STEM discipline and country
  • See which Ambassadors are available for virtual talks
  • Access the email address of Ambassadors who have opted in to school contact, and reach out to them directly to arrange a session

All contact happens outside the STEM Demystified platform - we simply make the Ambassador's email address visible to your school account where they have opted in. Every connection is consent-based.

Ask a STEM Professional

Have a question for a real scientist, engineer, or mathematician? With a school account, you can submit questions on behalf of your students directly to our community of STEM professionals.

How it works:

  • You or your students submit a question through your school dashboard
  • Questions are reviewed and passed to relevant Ambassadors based on their discipline
  • Answers are returned to your dashboard and can be shared with your class

This is a brilliant tool for:

  • Careers lessons and STEM days
  • Project-based learning where students need expert input
  • Showing students that real professionals are interested in their curiosity

Questions can be anonymous - your students' names are never shared with Ambassadors without your permission.

Suggest a role model

Know a woman in STEM whose story should be here? We'd love to hear about her. Use the contact form to suggest a profile - particularly women from underrepresented regions and disciplines.
