Portrait of Naziha S.

Naziha S.

Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • Bangladesh
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Clinical Research Associate

Naziha’s interest in science took root during her IGCSEs (a set of international school exams), where her passion for chemistry and biology began to grow. As a child, she describes herself as an introvert who often shied away from new opportunities and meeting new people.

As she got older, Naziha noticed something interesting: the only conversations that truly excited her were ones about science with young people. This realisation led her to become a science tutor - and later, she recognised that combining her scientific knowledge with strong communication skills could open up an entirely new kind of career: science communication.

Think of a career as a journey rather than a fixed destination.

During her Master’s degree in Advanced Drug Delivery - which focuses on how medicines are designed to reach the right place in the body - Naziha stepped out of her comfort zone and trained with an educational charity called Edinburgh Science. This experience helped her build public speaking and networking skills, working alongside people from many different STEM backgrounds.

Naziha has worked as a science editor, helping to make scientific information clear and accessible, and currently works as a Clinical Research Associate at a company that runs clinical trials - the carefully designed studies used to test whether new medicines are safe and effective.

Her advice to you

Her advice to children is to think of a career as a journey rather than a fixed destination. Rather than focusing only on where you’ll end up, focus on what each step teaches you and what opportunities it opens up - and try to build a genuine love of learning that will carry you through whatever path you choose.
